Applying for a
hardship variation
To apply for a hardship variation, you will need to:
- send us your application in writing
- explain what has changed in your situation since taking out the loan
- tell us the support or repayment change you are requesting
Requests may include:
- extending the term of the contract to reduce repayment amounts
- postponing repayment dates for a period of time
- or a combination of both
Please note that verbal applications cannot be processed.
Important
information
It is important to contact us as soon as possible if you are experiencing financial hardship.
In some situations, a lender may not be required to consider a hardship application if:
- the application is made too late
- or the circumstances were reasonably foreseeable at the time the loan was entered into
For example, if a customer was aware they were likely to lose their job before signing the loan contract, this may be considered reasonably foreseeable.
